Pollinators—bees, butterflies, moths, flies, beetles, birds, and even ants—play a vital role in maintaining the biodiversity and ecological resilience of the Sierra Nevada. Yet many of these species remain poorly documented, if not completely overlooked. Pollinators are vital for plant reproduction, but who cleans up after the plant dies? This talk will also touch briefly on the hidden world of slime molds, which act as crucial decomposers, employing their own clever strategies for finding food and reproduction.
Join Will Richardson of the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science (TINS) for an accessible and engaging exploration of some of the region’s pollinators, their ecological connections, the challenges they face in a changing climate and landscape, and how you can help by growing native plants.
Proceeds of ticket sales will go to the Tahoe Institude for Natural Science(TINS), a member-supported nonprofit organization advancing the natural history, conservation, and ecosystem knowledge of the Tahoe region through science, education, and outreach.
Attendees are encouraged to bring foldable chairs or alternative seating arrangements as seating in the store is limited. Please call 530-587-0771 if you are experiencing any issues with Eventbrite signups.
