Mountain Gardening Classes and Workshops

Before beginning your own experiments in Mountain Gardening, learn from the trials and successes of others.

We have decades of personal and vicarious mountain gardening experiences to share and we've killed thousands of plants in our own gardens already so that you won't have to. Most classes are held at the Villager Nursery, 10678 Donner Pass Rd. in Truckee.

Pre-registration is requested but drop-ins are usually welcome. We like to have an idea of the number of attendees because we put time and energy into preparation, updating and printing class hand-outs and sometimes providing samples of materials for a small group.

Most classes are free of charge but the workshops have minimal materials fees, and for those registration is required. We will cancel or re-schedule if the weather is unbearable. Dress warmly and please bring loads of questions, pictures and samples of plants for identification (after each class). The setting is informal and we always have fun. We have benches to sit on but you are welcome to bring your own folding chair.
