Habitat Restoration

The owners and staff of the Villager are committed to community and environmental service. Sarah is one of the founders of the Truckee River Watershed Council and is chairman of the Truckee River Day Committee. Many staff members are group leaders on River Day.

Scouler's Willows are a great way to stabilize stream banks and other areas prone to erosion. Willows produce a rooting hormone which is present in the bark of willow stakes helping them to root. Willow wattles are leafless stakes about 18 inches long and about 1/2" in diameter. Willows are fast growing and require watering for a few years until established.
